I thought that after the birth of my first children, my husband would put our needs ahead of those of his mother, but that did not happen. He had finally chosen her side over mine, so I could show her to be the tyrant and lie she said she was.
You were right to think that having your babies would be one of the happiest times in your life. This is how my experience started, but it quickly turned into a horror I can’t even begin to describe.
After a hard labor and delivery, I had three days of physiotherapy. Finally, I was let out of the hospital and ready to go home with my twin girls, Ella and Sophie. Along with getting ready to go home with my partner. It had been in my mind for months that my husband Derek would come to the hospital to see us with flowers in his arms and hug one of our girls while crying tears of joy down his cheeks.
Still, right before the big event, I got a frantic phone call that completely changed what was going to happen.
My husband yelled at me, “Hey, baby!” and his voice was shaking. “I’m so sorry, but I can’t come pick you guys up as planned.”
“What?” As I changed Sophie’s blanket to fit her, I asked. “Derek, I just gave birth to twins. What is so important that you can’t—”
He then said, “That’s my mom.” “Her condition is deteriorating.” The number of chest problems varies. I need to pick her up and take her to the hospital that’s right next to her house.
The way his words made people feel was like a bucket of ice water. “What?” Thank you for not telling me earlier. What was the reason you forgot to do so? Derek, you should really be there.
As he replied, “I am aware,” his voice was shaking with anger. “But this happened suddenly and is of a serious nature.” I’ll get in touch with you right away.
“Fine,” I said, clenching my teeth and fighting the urge to yell because I was upset and angry at the time. I’ll pretty much yell for a car.
He said, “Thank you,” in a low voice, and hung up the phone.
Since my husband’s mother lived in a different city, it wasn’t likely that he would come back on the same day to pick up the kids and me. The mother of my spouse hails from a different place, which led to this. Derek couldn’t bring himself to leave his mother alone because he was so close to her. He had no other choice but to take the cab.
I felt like my heart was going to break when the line suddenly stopped. My guess was that Derek was a momma’s boy who was emotional instead of mean. It was really important to me to believe that. On the other hand, sadness was still all around. The mother-in-law (MIL) who insisted on making her own set of keys to our house so she could help with the kids is now suddenly sick. She was the one who made this happen.
As I walked us to a taxi and made sure the kids were safe in the car seats their dad had ordered the day before, I tried to ignore how I felt.
As soon as we pulled into the driveway, I felt like I had to stop. My bags, pregnancy bags, cradle mattress, and other things were all strewn out on the front lawn and near the front door. My gut muscles squished together like a coil. After giving the driver money, I got out of the van with the twins and kept a close eye on what was going on around me. It was clear that a big problem needed to be fixed.
When I got to the front door, I called out my husband’s name while I was fumbling with my keys. Even though I knew he couldn’t be home at this point, I still did this. The key could not be turned in either way. Again, I tried, but this time I was stuck. Not all of it. After a while, I saw it: a folded piece of paper stuck to the side of a bag.
Now, leave this area with your relatively small friends! I can get all the information I need. This is Derek.
While I was struggling for air, my heart stopped beating fast. I read the note over and over again, hoping it was just a dream, even though my hands were shaking as I tried to understand it. It’s not possible to do that. It’s not Derek…
He wasn’t the man who held my hand at every doctor’s appointment or broke down in tears when we heard our girls’ heartbeats for the first time. That’s when the scariest part of the day started to take shape.
I touched him right away to find out more. Just with the phone’s message. More than twice as much. Setting up a message. When Ella and Sophie both started crying at the same time, it made everyone feel scared. While I rocked their car seats back and forth, I forced myself to think about it.
I said in a whisper. “Mom,” I answered. I had shaking hands as I called her number.
The first ring was answered by mom, who was there: “Jenna?” “What is the matter?” The kids’ current health situation makes you wonder.
I lost my temper as I tried to breathe and say the words. I didn’t want to involve my mother in the problem because her health was getting worse, but I thought this was an important moment.
“Derek…” He switched out the nuts. He just left my things out in the open. “Mom, he left this nasty note.”
“WHAT?!” Her voice got a lot louder and more urgent. I plan to pay you a call. Stay where you are.
Before she came, it felt like the minutes had turned into hours. Mom’s eyes got red with anger, and she yelled that she wasn’t happy as she looked at the mess.
“This is illogical!” Derek loves you and the kids very much, so he can’t act this way.
“That’s what I thought,” I told Ella as I kissed her and tried to stop her crying. However, he is not answering. “What does the phrase ‘I know everything’ really mean?” I told her this as I showed her the mean note.
She told me she was sorry by hugging me tightly and whispering, “I’m so sorry, my darling.” “Let’s head to my place till we can find your husband, okay?”
The woman drove us back to her house quickly and was kind enough to help me load the bags into her car. My worry grew as my mom and I looked into what happened in great depth and tried over and over to get in touch with Derek. For some reason, I couldn’t fall asleep that night.
On the next morning, I understood that I needed proof of my suspicions. I drove my mom’s car back to the house after leaving the boys with her. No one could be found in the yard, and everything I owned was gone. I knocked on the door. There was no answer right away. When I got close to the back of the building, I stopped and looked through the windows.
Karen, Derek’s mom, was drinking a cup of tea that she had brought with her while sitting at the table. Start banging on the door, and she looked up in surprise. When she saw me, she smiled and came very close to spilling her tea.
“What are you doing here?”
I asked for things while banging on the door.
Lorraine got to the door slowly and opened it with care. Did you forget to read the note that said you couldn’t stay here? “Jenna.””
“Where’s Derek?” The chaos was on the ground. “Why did he?”
That was easy for her to say: “He is currently hospitalized in my hometown.” “Caring for his sick mother.”
Just looking at her made me feel very skeptical. “Do you feel unwell?” You are right now in this exact situation.
She gave a sneering shrug and smiled meanly. “It is possible that I am experiencing an improvement in my condition.” Many miracles happen.
“You misled him, didn’t you?” “You acted to be sick!”
Her smile went out to a lot more people. “And?”
I could make fists by balling my hands up. “Why?” When you chose to act this way, what drove you?
She crossed her arms and looked more and more cocky.
“I told Derek from the start that our family needs a boy to continue the family name.” On the other hand, what about you? Because of your work, two of our children It was at some point after all these years with her child that she suddenly realized “it is useless.” Even though she admitted it, she didn’t say sorry.
What she said made me pass out right away. I was so shocked that I couldn’t say anything, and she thought that my silence meant she could keep talking.
Even though the note was too much, I told you to believe that my kid wanted you to leave at some point because I knew you would put his life in danger and took care of the situation on your own. I even took his phone out of his pocket when he wasn’t looking, which made it even harder for him to get in touch with you. Even though you were supposed to get your things and leave our lives, you are still here.
I was so scared I couldn’t even breathe. She planned everything because she hated my girls. She lied to her son and used lies to get him to go with her to the hospital. All of this was done because she couldn’t stand my girls. After that, she left, locked me out of my house, and took his phone without me knowing.
“You tossed us over that?”
Without giving it a second thought, she said, “Sure.” To make sure one of the nurses would stay, I even paid him with money. It did work, right?
It made me feel sick too. “You’s deranged!”
“Call me anything you want!” she yelled. “I don’t care.” “I refer to it as safeguarding my family.” Derek is also always there for me and will always make sure that things are done the way I like them.
While I was driving to the hospital, where my wife was still waiting for me, I kept hearing what she had said. I got more and more angry with each mile I ran. Besides, how could she defend acting so aggressively? As I slammed my fists into the wheel, my knuckles turned white from anger.
Even though I knew my mother-in-law was mean, I didn’t always believe she was. She never wanted me to date her son because she thought Derek should hang out with someone more expensive. She believed Derek should be with someone richer and fancier than I was.
When I got to the hospital, I saw my husband walking in the waiting room while his eyes were wide with worry.
I wasn’t able to call you because I either didn’t have my phone with me or couldn’t remember your number. His voice screamed, “Jenna!” as he ran up to me quickly.
I cut him off in the middle of our conversation and said, “Your mother took your phone.” “She faked her illness and locked me out of the house!”
He didn’t move at all, and his face showed that he was confused and angry. “What?” That’s not a discussion based on facts.
“She bribed a nurse to lie to you, wrote a fake note from you sending me away, and set me up,” I said, shakily. “She set me up.” Lorraine is over at our house, drinking tea like she’s the queen of the world!”
Try to wait if you can. Where does the problem lie in the system? When things are like this, why would she…”
“Because our daughters aren’t boys,” I said with anger.
She was proud, but Derek’s constant need made her decide to let go.
He said, “Mom,” in a cold and sharp voice. “What actions did you do?”At first, I thought you were going to the hospital.
At first, it looked like she was lying, but Derek stopped her in the middle of what she was saying. “Preserve it.” I have all the facts in my hands.
“Derek, I was just aiming to—”
His comment, “You have fulfilled your duties,” came out of nowhere. It meant, “You forced me to leave my wife and kids in the name of a fake emergency!””Following this, you locked my wife, who had just given birth, and our two new babies out of our house. Also, by taking my phone at a crucial time, you have stopped us from properly communicating with each other.
“Dear Derek,…” I just wanted to make sure everything was okay with you. Concerned about what was going on, my mother-in-law said, “This is not the intended outcome.”
“shield me from my children and spouse?”Who told me I was wanting men? Why do you think that my kids are not right for me because they are girls? What does your opinion come from? Not I, but you are the one having that problem. If you want to have guys, you should definitely make them on your own.
He told you to get your things together and leave right away.
As she stared at him in shock, her eyes filled with tears. “It is impossible for you to intend that!” “I am your mother!.” “(” )
And Jenna is my wife!”You are looking at my kids! If you can’t accept them, you’re not a part of our lives.
For the first time, Lorraine wasn’t quiet. All of a sudden, she smashed doors in her way as she ran to the second floor to start packing. When Derek looked at her, his eyes were red with sorrow.
“My dear, I am very sorry.”
I had no idea.
I just want us to move forward. As I took a shaky breath, I could feel my body starting to loosen up.
It occurred to me that Lorraine had meant to destroy us, but she had instead brought us together. This thought came to me while I was rocking Ella and Sophie to sleep one night, even though it was hard.
