Little Michael sees his dad with the nanny – and it all escalates from there
It’s always tricky to understand how politics works—government, councils, laws—it’s all a bit complicated, especially for kids.
In this funny story, a father tries to explain politics to his young son, but like many things in politics, it comes back to bite him the next day.
Little Michael’s Question
One day, Michael comes home from school and asks his dad, “How do politics work?”
His dad replies, “Well, son, it’s like this:
- I’m the one who earns the money, so I’m the economic power.
- Your mom manages everything, so she’s the government.
- You’re the people, and we care for your little brother, who represents the future of the country.
- And the nanny is the working class.”
Michael listens carefully, trying to understand.
The Night Incident
Later that night, Michael wakes up because his baby brother is crying. He finds that the baby has made a mess in his diaper. He tries to wake up his mom for help, but she’s fast asleep. So, he goes to find his dad—only to see him laughing and having a great time with the nanny in the guest room.
Frustrated, Michael goes back to bed, deciding to handle things on his own.
The Next Morning
The next morning, Michael says to his dad, “I think I get it now. While the people are left to handle things on their own, the government is fast asleep, the economic power is off having fun with the working class, and the future of the country is left in a big mess!”
