Country star Vince Gill was instructed not to sing about Jesus so this is how he resonded
Vince Gill, a renowned country music artist, has released more than 20 albums and has received numerous awards, including the most Grammys ever awarded to a male country singer.
Gill gained fame in 1979 as part of the country rock band Pure Prairie League; he was then inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
After four decades, Gill remains a popular musician and his most recent performance was on the Grand Ole Opry stage with Little Big Town.
While singing, something captivating happened. Gill encountered a predicament as a devout Christian, due to the prohibition on singing religious songs, especially those that mention Jesus.
Gill stood firm and chose to go against the order in an innovative way. He bravely decided to sing “Why Me Lord,” a moving song written by Kris Kristofferson in 1972 and famously performed by Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, rather than giving up his convictions.
The audience gave Gill a standing ovation for his performance, highlighting its strong impact. His commitment to his beliefs and artistic identity was clearly displayed.
Gill has the complete authority to make his own decisions while staying in the renowned Country Music Hall of Fame!
