Christopher Reeve’s son, adopted by neighbors, wows with his striking resemblance to his late father

The modest reporter who became a superhero was a big part of everyone’s childhood, and whenever we think of Superman, Christopher Reeve’s name will always pop up in our minds.

Reeve did something amazing that seemed impossible. He got many generations to adore the character he portrayed. Sadly, this incredible man, who was known for his good looks, faced a terrible horse riding accident that left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Even though he was paralyzed, he didn’t let that stop him from doing what he loved most: acting, writing, and helping others.

His fans and family were always there for him, and they gave him the strength to believe that he could get better someday. Unfortunately, he died in 2004, but his three kids are keeping his memory alive. Reeve had a son named Matthew and a daughter named Alexandra with his first wife, Gae Exton, and his youngest son, Will, with his second wife, Dana Reeve. Now, all three of them manage their parents’ foundation, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

This group aims to support people who have paralysis, and they do a great job at it. Will Reeve, who is now 30 years old, catches people’s attention not just because he carries on his parents’ mission, but also because he looks so much like his dad, who has passed away.

When Christopher could no longer walk or breathe by himself, little Will was just a small child. In a chat with People, he remembers how he and his dad shared a special bond and enjoyed many fun activities together. Christopher even helped him learn to ride a bike by giving him helpful tips and cheering him on. Will lost his real-life hero when he was 11 years old.

Only 10 months after Christopher died, his wife Dana found out she had lung cancer. Sadly, she died two years later, which meant Will lost both of his parents. At just 13 years old, he went to live with their neighbors, Ralph and Ann Pucci, who Dana believed would take good care of him.

Will once talked about how amazing the family that took him in was, saying, “The Puccis are like heroes to me. They are truly wonderful people. […] They helped me get through the toughest time in my life – and I came out of it pretty okay.”

They welcomed me into their lives and showed me so much love, not just like a son, but truly as one. The Puccis are my family, and they will always be. When I say, “I’m going home,” I mean their house, he explained.

This young guy lived up to what his parents wanted for him. Right now, he works as a correspondent for Good Morning America. He has also written for ESPN’s SportsCenter and MSG Network, and he keeps inspiring a lot of other young guys.

He always keeps the foundation as a priority and thinks that by fundraising to help others, he’s paying tribute to his parents. He shared with Today: “Their enthusiasm for everything is what made them unique. They truly wanted to make a positive impact in the world, no matter the situation. Growing up with them as role models was an amazing experience. I aim to continue their legacy every day by following the lessons they taught me.”

In a 2016 interview with People, Will shared stories about his childhood, describing it as completely “normal” and really great.

He remembered fondly, “They were the ones who told me to switch off the TV, eat my broccoli, and get to bed on time. I know not every kid gets to go to the store and see their dad on a magazine at the checkout, but for me, it was just a regular childhood.”

When people say he looks a lot like his dad, this young guy replies, “My parents had great personalities, so if I can look like them in that way, I really like being compared to them.”

Even though Will went through a tough time losing his parents, he didn’t let sadness take over his life. Instead, he used the memories of them to help him become a person that everyone looks up to.

In an article for the Daily Mail, Will mentioned, “My dad had a saying that I often share to keep his memory alive and inspire younger people: ‘A hero is just a regular person who discovers the courage to keep going, even when faced with huge challenges.’”

Christopher Reeve was once featured on the cover of a magazine as one of the 25 most interesting people, and Will is excited to share his own story about Superman with that same magazine. Check out the video below to find out more about Will’s life and the foundation he leads now.
