JD Vance is under fire as a ‘hypocrite’ after drag photos from his college days come to light

Ohio Senator JD Vance (R) hasn’t said anything about the new drag photos, but former Rep. George Santos has been speaking out about it.

On Sunday, a picture of the Republican vice presidential candidate wearing a blonde wig and a long dress became super popular online. It caught a lot of eyes because it was so different from the GOP’s usual views on drag and LGBTQ+ rights.

Matt Bernstein shared some eye-catching photos on X that got everyone talking on social media. He wrote, “new: I have a picture of JD Vance in drag from his time at Yale Law School.”

Travis Whitfill confirmed that the photos are real. He said, “This was taken in 2012… A classmate took the photo and sent it to me.”

People had a lot to say about the photo. One person commented, “Here’s JD Vance in drag at Yale Law School. I’m not trying to make fun of drag performers, but it’s interesting how some people criticize drag while they’ve enjoyed it themselves.” Another person joked, “Looking cute! Maybe I’ll run for Vice President later.” A third person pointed out, “Don’t just call JD Vance weird for wearing drag. Call him out for being a hypocrite and a bigot for attacking others who do drag.”

Some people supported Vance too, like George Santos, a Republican U.S. representative from New York. He mentioned that the pictures of Vance looked more like silly outfits from a college party rather than actual drag, according to a report by TMZ.

Santos mentioned that saying it’s drag isn’t really fair. He believes that many guys have tried on costumes that mix up gender roles at some time in their lives. He pointed out that couples often do this, like when a wife dresses as a man and a husband dresses as a woman. He thinks that’s not really drag.
