Refugee Boy Captures The Hearts of “The Voice” Coaches in a Stunning Audition
A young refugee from Afghanistan captures the hearts of the coaches on “The Voice Kids” with his thrilling rendition of Celine Dion’s mega-hit, “My Heart Will Go On.” We hear Abu’s wrenching story of escape from a torn country and the loss he feels. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW...
The family has embraced their new opportunities and found new friends, but of course, they are saddened by what they had to leave behind. Abu still feels the loss of all his boyhood playmates and tells how much he misses them. He wonders if he will ever see his friends again.
Abu grew up nurtured in a happy, loving family. He tells how they fled to safety in Belgium and began a brave new chapter in their lives.
As soon as his pure, angelic voice filled the auditorium with its sweet clarity, the faces of the coaches turned from initial amazement to wide smiles as they all hastened to turn their revolving chairs and claim the gifted young singer for their own team.
As Abu reached the end of his emotionally-charged performance, as one the Coaches stood up in their chairs clapping and cheering.
For his audition on “The Voice”, he chose to sing the classic song from the movie the “Titanic”. Abu feels a resonance with that movie, he relates to the courageous people who had set out to begin a new life in a new land before disaster struck and took all those dreams away.
One judge even rushes towards Abu, falls to his knees and applauds. “I want to sit in the front row for this performance”, he said. In praise of Abu’s performance, another thrilled coach declares, “I have goosebumps!”
Needless to say, the talented youngster moved forward in the competition and I am sure we have not heard the last of this amazing young singer.
